Coaxed back....

...into the blogging lark :D

I was reading a lovely food blog earlier and I felt considerable guilt for neglecting my own poor blog all these months. Sometimes life just gets in the way doesn't it?

I think in my last blog I predicted another blog in October, so I'm not far off ;) I'm going to summarise and elaborate where I feel appropriate.

I'm going to see another Rangers game thanks to my employers and their suite at the ball park.
Went to the gym a lot, lost some lbs and about 2.5 inches all round (yus!). Got to see the Astros in Houston with my lovely in-laws. Went to see Brandi Carlile here in Dallas the next night who was incredible, just an amazing presence on stage and immensely talented (and it's not true that Spring and I cried through most of the show....no, not at all).

We had a lovely long weekend visit from Donna, Corey and Isaac and took in the zoo with them and the little man. He's a blast! Took a little tiny plane flight round Dallas, Chris even got to fly! Worked on the EP some more, played music with the band.

Said a sad farefwell to Bruce before he moved up to Boston. More
love and music. GOT A PIANO! A beautiful 80 year old instrument that we feel very privileged to have been able to adopt from a lovely family. I heart it. Took in the Houston Texan's first NFL season game, on 911...pretty special!

Got to meet Steve and Christina's gorgeous little boy, Ian, finally last month, what a little sweetheart. I completely adore that little fella (about as much as I do them!). Basketcake had their first gig, muchly overdue!! Then my parents graced us
with their presence for a couple of weeks. We did LOTS with them, most notably a jaunt to Bolivar Peninsula also with Corey, Donna and Isaac which was a wonderful, wonderful weekend. Good times and great company.

And here we are! It's been a busy 5 months, that's for sure. Lots to look forward to too.....

We are heading to Boston, taking a certain young man with us, for Thanksgiving. I CANNOT wait, I just love it so much up there, there will be tears again no doubt. And due to this Christmas being the off year for the Texas family, Chris and I have decided to go all anti festive and we're going a road trip to Big Bend National Park, staying in an old ghost town. Sometimes I kinda like my spontaneous ideas ;) And even more, I love my husband's willingness to go with it! 'Hey, honey, lets drive to Big Bend for Christmas!'....'Ok, as long as we can go in a Mustang GT.' :D

And then it's another year.....let us see what it brings us!!

Love

Time flies....

...when life happens! :)

I may just need to accept that my blogging will occur with no actual regularity. I often think about writing but then it'd just be boring, but then it just kind of is isn't it, it's just me yabbering away.

It's been about 5 months since I last blogged, though it feels longer than that. I'm taking the opportunity to sit and write while taking care of a sick husband.

So as not to bore....in summary...folks visited, Christmas in Houston, great New Year with the usual crowd with dancing and (much) drinking. We'll skirt over sending my wonderful parentals back home on a plane and how much I missed my brother not being here too.

Crazy Texas weather in February, snow and bad ice storms. I've driven in a lot of bad weather in Scotland, but never roads coated in a thick layer of rough ice like that! February also brought a change in jobs for me, so I'm now back working in the my actual field again so have been busy with that over the last few months. New hours, new commute, new office, new job, so some things to get used to.

In March, we moved house. We didn't mean to, we were planning to look in a few month but saw somewhere and took it! It's a lovely 3 bed house (still renting), I love it! The kitchen is big, I love the space and we have a great huge living room and a massive back yard. It's also really close to the lake, so as much as I miss the old neighbourhood and being walking distance from lots of our haunts, we have other benefits here (not solely that it's also two blocks from my gym!).

And on that subject...I've joined the gym and am having a couple of months of personal trainer sessions right now to try and get myself vaguely back to my pre-Texas fitness/shape. It's going well so far and I'm actually really enjoying it (most of the time). If I was rich, I'd pay for constant trainer sessions... if only.

Music wise we're still working on the album/EP, though things got halted a bit with the house move but we did a couple of accoustic gigs (just Chris and me) at Opening Bell over the last couple of months which was a lot of fun. I love that place, the first place I played back in '06 in the Standard and Pours days.

Since the move to the new house, our spare room has been well utilised with family visits and there's more of those to come in the next month or so, looking forward to some nephew time ;) We also got to host our lovely friends' wedding reception in our back yard with about 80 guests. It was a blast.

So 2011, already off to a flying start, as predicted and already shaping up to be a good year. It's ever so easy to be positive while sitting chilling out on a sunny day with a glass of pink wine and some steak fajitas in your future, isn't it? ;)

Over and out...what this space....I predict another blog in October ;)
